Superior Technology and Mobile Expertise
At Surge9 we believe in technology done right. We are committed to native software architecture and writing beautiful code, without using any third-party, cross-platform tools or software frameworks to build our products. Instead, we write directly to the native operating system of each platform, using 100% Swift for iOS and Kotlin and pure Android Java for Android. The results are intuitive and super-fast mobile experiences that allow your employees to focus on what matters: learning and performing.
Our gamified microlearning and training reinforcement solutions have rapid development cycles; extensive cloud development; and artificial intelligence and machine learning, which give you superior analytics and can anticipate the important moments in the daily patterns of your life. Some say creating native apps is expensive. But M-Compass, our unique software development methodology, keeps our costs down, our prices competitive, and protects you from obsolescence. It produces superior mobile apps that shorten your time-to-market and will exceed your expectations on any platform.
Our History: The Road to Surge9
Surge9 was founded in 2015 by a team of technology entrepreneurs with extensive corporate training experience. Our passion for learning, encapsulated in our motto: The World Can Learn Differently, incubated during years of exploration and experience in creating dozens of mobile apps for diverse enterprise clients in many industries.
Entrepreneurs understand that sometimes you just have to wait for the right opportunity to come along. In 2015, three converging technology trends convinced us that the time to act was now.
By 2012 smartphones had become universal. Plummeting prices had made them affordable for hundreds of millions of people. And users were embedding them into their lives in astonishing new ways.
They were taking them everywhere, sleeping with them, depending on them to do things they wouldn’t trust to an old friend. Being their banks, their cameras, their books, their televisions, their co-pilots, their allies against Angry Birds, and even their very own movie studios.
And elearning was dying. Instead of creating new avenues for learning it was too often used to cut costs, slash jobs, and axe travel expenses. Course designers bypassed its rich learning possibilities and reverted to monotonous pages of text and pictures flipped on-screen. HR and L&D managers, unprepared to take advantage of their LMS’s deep tracking data, resigned themselves to minimal reports on courses completed. (And test scores from quizzes any 10-year-old could fool.)
Finally, advances in data science promised that something new was coming over the horizon. By the 1980s, the term “artificial intelligence” had lost its lustre, its potential never realized. The exabytes of data AI needed to make itself viable didn’t exist.
But now data was virtually free.
New, cheap, and powerful cloud computing services were coming online. The price of storage was dropping so fast that consumers could buy terabytes for next to nothing. And now the internet was streaming all the data anyone could ever want. You could now create sophisticated AI machine learning models and feed them with so much data that they could learn from billions of real-life experiences to draw insights and recognize patterns that no human being ever could.
In July 2015 Microsoft released Power BI™, its artificial intelligence-powered business analytics system. The insights it extracted from your data were so intuitive that you no longer had to know which report to pull. You just asked Power BI for what you wanted, and it gave it to you.
That’s when we realized that very little of this supercharged, next-generation computing ecosystem was being used to drive learning. The LMS was obsolete. The world needed a new kind of learning system that would exploit the ubiquitous power of mobile, AI, and cloud computing for a new mobile age.
The triggers fired. We got to work. Surge9 was born.
Thank you for seeking us out. We warmly welcome you to Surge9.
